Sandalwood (East Indian) is distilled from plants found in the East Indian continent. The essential oil is prepared from the hydro distillation of heartwood of Santalum album that is at least 35 years old. This variety of sandalwood grows exceptionally well in Mysore. The sandalwood extract has numerous medicinal properties that have found many Ayurvedic applications.
